S.J. Spain is the author of Bell Ringer, the first book in the Adam Perdue mysteries series. With a background in international and US nonprofits and a passion for storytelling, Spain has crafted a captivating collection of stories taking place in the fictional city of Orman. Spain’s work is characterized by intricate plots, well-developed characters, and a knack for keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Before venturing into fiction, Spain was a nonprofit executive leading organizations focused on housing and homelessness and an international aid worker in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Living and working with people marginalized by war, poverty, or other circumstances inspired the thrilling narratives found in the Adam Perdue series.

Spain is deeply committed to community service, and has actively participated on the boards of a variety of organizations, including: METCO and the Melrose Democratic Committee in the Boston area; the FEMA Emergency Food & Shelter Program in New Hanover County, Quality Enhancement for Nonprofit Organizations (QENO), the Affordable Housing Coalition for SE North Carolina, NC Habitat, Workforce Housing Committee, and 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness in the Wilmington, NC area.
